About Therapy

Life has a way of piling up.
It’s what happens when you’re always on the move.
So many things keep YOU on the back burner.
Lingering trauma.
The stress of helping others in crisis.
The responsibilities of motherhood.
Over time, that constant push can start to take a toll.
You might notice anxiety that never seems to quiet down, a heaviness that makes everything feel harder, or a numbness beneath the surface that’s easy to hide behind a polished smile.
Because you’re the strong one – the one who keeps it all together.
But even strength has limits.
And sometimes what looks like “doing fine” is really exhaustion, loneliness, and the quiet ache of trying to be everything to everyone.
When strength starts to feel like survival…
Anxiety, depression, and perfectionism often hide behind doing it all – but therapy can help you find your way back to yourself.

You don’t have to carry it by yourself anymore.
In our work together, you’ll find a safe space to set down the weight you’ve been holding.
Therapy with me isn’t about judgment or “fixing” you – it’s about slowing down, listening closely to your story, and helping you reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been buried by stress, grief, or responsibility.
It’s a relief to have a place where you don’t have to be strong – where you can finally speak out loud the things that go unsaid from day to day.
Collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in real connection…
That’s what you can expect during your sessions.
I show up as a person in the therapy room with you – because I believe true human connection fosters true healing.
We might process past trauma through EMDR, explore patterns that no longer serve you, or find new ways to navigate the daily demands of caregiving, motherhood, or life on call.
My goal is to help you feel grounded, less reactive, and more at home in your own skin.
Over time, you’ll see the changes – you’ll feel the shifts….
- A greater sense of calm and clarity.
- More connection with yourself and your loved ones.
- The ability to set boundaries without guilt.
- A release from the grip of old wounds or past experiences.
- The confidence to step into your life with resilience and authenticity.

I’m here for you, ready to get started!
Whether you’re navigating sleepless nights with a newborn…
Managing the stress of a high-intensity career…
Supporting a partner on the frontlines…
Or trying to heal from trauma that keeps resurfacing…
We’ll build a path forward that feels sustainable and true to you.

About Stephanie Ward, LCSW

Hi, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and the founder of Resilient Roots Counseling.
For more than 20 years, I’ve worked alongside people facing some of life’s hardest challenges: trauma, loss, and major transitions.
My time working in a hospital taught me the depth of human resilience, and that informs everything I do today.
Some of my specialties…
- Trauma healing
- Perinatal and postpartum transitions
- Supporting women and families connected to first responder life.
I’m EMDR-trained and trauma-informed, and I believe that therapy is most powerful when it’s both evidence-based and deeply human.
Outside the therapy room…
I’m a mom, firefighter wife, and sourdough baker.
I love long walks with my kids and our dog.
I find the quiet of early mornings sacred; it’s where I reconnect with myself before the day begins.
These simple joys remind me why healing matters – so we can be more present, connected, and alive in our own stories.
