Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

I’m based and licensed in California.

I offer in-person sessions in my office at 301 Alamo Dr., Suite C, Vacaville, CA 95688.

I also work with clients online. As long as you’re in California or Idaho at the time of your appointment, we can meet anywhere that’s comfortable, private, and has a good internet connection.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

The best way to know is to book a free 15-minute consultation.

This gives us a chance to meet, talk through what you’re looking for, and see if we feel like a good fit. Therapy is most effective when you feel safe and connected with your therapist.

What can I expect in my first session?

Our first session is about getting to know you – your story, what brings you in, and what you hope to gain from therapy.

There’s no pressure to share everything all at once. We’ll move at a pace that feels safe for you.

What types of therapy do you offer?

I use trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches like EMDR, IFS, mindfulness, and supportive talk therapy.

I also show up as a human to bring compassion and real-world understanding into sessions.

Do you specialize in certain areas?

Yes. My specialties include:

  • Supporting first responders and their spouses/families
  • Trauma healing (childhood, medical/birth, relational, and more)
  • Motherhood and life transitions (fertility, postpartum, identity shifts)

How long will therapy take?

You’re probably wondering if we’re talking a “quick sprint” or a “slow dance.”

Think of therapy like music: You set the tempo.

Sometimes, it’s a short, fast track to get through a tough transition. Other times, it’s more like a slow dance, where we take our time exploring, healing, and growing. We’ll find the rhythm together that feels right for you.

How often will we meet?

I typically see clients on a weekly basis, but I also offer customized therapy intensives for those who prefer to dive deeper in a shorter amount of time.

Do you take insurance?

I’m considered an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. As a private-pay provider, I’m able to keep my practice flexible and also offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots for those who need them.

However, I can provide you with a “Superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Please reach out if you’d like to learn more about what option might work best for you.

Do you work with children or couples?

My practice is primarily focused on helping adults and teens navigate life transitions or heal from trauma.

While that’s where most of my work lies, I occasionally work with couples when it feels like the right fit.

If this is of interest to you, reach out, and let’s connect.

Will you judge me for what I share?

Absolutely not. Therapy with me is a judgment-free space.

I show up as a real human, not just a therapist, because genuine connection is what makes healing possible.

What if I get my feelings hurt by something you say in our session?

That’s an important question. Sometimes, therapy can bring up tender spots, and it’s possible that something I say might land in a way that feels uncomfortable.

If that happens, I encourage you to let me know. Naming it gives us a chance to slow down, repair, and use the moment as part of the healing process.

Your voice matters here.

What if I’m not sure I’m ready for therapy?

That’s completely okay. Just reaching out to explore your options is already a brave first step. Your free consultation is pressure-free. You can simply get a sense of what therapy with me might feel like. I’ll be here to support you whenever you decide the time is right.

Can I still come to therapy even if I “should” be able to handle things on my own?

Absolutely. Many of my clients are the strong ones everyone else leans on: moms, first responders, and caregivers.

Therapy isn’t about weakness; it’s about finally giving yourself the same care you so freely give others.

I’m here for it – and for you.

In our virtual session, are you wearing sweatpants?

Maybe. The beauty of virtual therapy is comfort – for you and me! What matters most is that you feel supported, seen, and safe – whether I’m in slacks, jeans, or yes… even sweatpants (probably not, though).

Can I just come in my yoga pants and messy bun?

Absolutely. Therapy isn’t about how you look – It’s about how you feel.

Come as you are, whether that’s yoga pants, a messy bun, or dressed to the nines.

What if I cry in a session (or laugh… or both at once)?

Then you’re human. All feelings are welcome in therapy: tears, laughter, and even the moments when both occur simultaneously.

It’s all part of the process, and I’ll hold space for whatever comes up. If we are together in person, I will pass you a box of tissues.

What if I don’t know where to start?

That’s perfectly okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out before coming to therapy.

Part of my job is to help you sort through what feels heavy and unclear. We’ll take it one step at a time, together.

How do I know if therapy is working?

Great question. Sometimes, progress appears as significant shifts: feeling lighter, less anxious, or more confident.

Other times, it’s subtle: catching yourself being kinder to yourself, setting a boundary, or noticing you’re not as triggered by something that used to overwhelm you.

We’ll check in together along the way to make sure you’re moving toward what matters most to you.

What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t click?

That’s more common than you might think. Finding the right therapist is a lot like finding the right pair of shoes – sometimes, it takes a few tries to get the right fit.

My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, safe, and supported. If something doesn’t feel helpful, we’ll talk about it openly and adjust together.

Can I ask you questions in sessions?

Absolutely. Therapy is a two-way conversation, not a monologue. You’re welcome to ask me questions – about the process, what you’re experiencing, or even about me.

While I may not always answer personal questions, I will generally do so if it feels beneficial to you and supports the work we’re doing together. Curiosity is part of building trust, and I’m here for it.

Do we only talk about hard stuff, or can we celebrate wins, too?

Both! Therapy is a space for the heavy things, but it’s just as important to honor your growth and celebrate the wins, big or small. Noticing your progress is part of the healing process, and I’ll be right there cheering you on.
